By Ray Hamill — College of the Redwood’s scheduled football game at Yuba College this weekend will not take place.

The Corsairs were scheduled to play under the lights on Saturday night but Yuba has forfeited the game.

The 49ers are winless on the season and first-year head coach Tim Mulvehill announced his resignation on Monday.

Last weekend Yuba lost 76-0 to De Anza.

The forfeit means the Corsairs will go three straight weekends without a game.

They had a scheduled bye last week and another bye next week.

The Corsairs will resume play on Nov. 9 when they host De Anza in a key showdown at the Redwoods Bowl.

Both Redwoods and De Anza are 2-0 in the American-Pacific 7 Conference.

CR has won three straight games since losing an early-season matchup at Monterey Peninsula and is now 6-1 on the season after this week’s forfeit.

De Anza is unbeaten with an overall record of 6-0.

The Mountain Lions are scheduled to host Merced College on Saturday and will also have a bye before their trip to Humboldt.

After a recent good run, Redwoods is tied with Diablo Valley in this week’s California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA) poll, with both teams ranked No. 22 in the state.

De Anza is just outside the top 25.

CR has two more regular-season games remaining after the showdown with De Anza, including another home game against Cabrillo on Nov. 16 and a road game at Siskiyous on Nov. 23.
