
The Fortuna Huskies are the last remaining undefeated JV football team in the H-DNL after a big win at St. Bernard’s last weekend.
The Huskies and Crusaders both came into the game with unbeaten records, but it was Forutna that prevailed in a close and well-played showdown, winning the game 20-12.
The two schools will face off again in a conference game next week.
Both teams kick off the Big 4 on Saturday night, with St. Bernard’s playing Eureka at the Redwood Bowl and Fortuna traveling to Crescent City to play Del No
rte.
Last weekend’s game was one of four for the H-DNL teams.
The Eureka Loggers continued to impress with a shutout win in a non-conference game at Del Norte, winning 26-0.
With the win, the impressive Loggers improved to 5-1-1 as they get set for conference play.
In the Little 4, meanwhile, the Ferndale JVs took over sole possession of top spot in the conference standings with a 57-8 win over the Arcata Tigers.
With the victory, the Cats improved to 3-0 in the L4 standings halfway through the conference schedule and 5-2 overall.
Also in the Little 4, the McKinleyville Panthers continued their late-season surge with a 38-8 win over the Hoopa Warriors.
The Panthers are now unbeaten in four of their last five games, including wins in two of their last three.
They are second in the conference standings with a record of 2-1 (2-3-2 overall).
There are two Little 4 game scheduled for this weekend, both on Friday night.
Arcata plays at McKinleyville and Ferndale plays at Hoopa.
