Halfway through their conference schedule, the Del Norte Warriors remain on course for a third straight Big 5 championship.

On Thursday night, the Del Norte girls won for the fourth time in four conference games stretching their Big 5 winning streak to 20 games with a straight-sets win over Eureka in Crescent City.

The Warriors won 25-13 25-20, 25-20 and remain one win ahead of Arcata (3-1) in the conference standings.

Once again several players had big contributions for the Warriors, who continue to showcase their team depth.

Lauren Stutes finished with a team-high 11 kills in the win, while teammate Bliss Blackburn had 10 kills, Tsinte Steinruck had nine and Kansas Coulson had four.

Steinruck capped a good all-around night with nine digs and four aces, while Carlee Harper finished with a team-but 16 digs.

Blackburn also had eight digs, Ariana Stansbury had six and Coulson five.

Blackburn and Stutes each also three aces, with Stutes also contributing a pair of blocks.

The Loggers to their credit pushed the home team in the final two sets.

“Del Norte is really good, they keep coming at you,” Eureka head coach Stephanie Napoleon said.

Tiarah Maualuga again led the Eureka girls with nine kills, while Alena Battle also impressed and finished with six kills and three blocks.

Samara Gaither also had four kills, Macy Perkins had three kills and a pair of blocks and Kaitlynn Whitehead finished with two kills and three blocks.

“I felt we did a good job getting the block up and making some defensive stops,” Napoleon said of the final two sets. “But in the end we just had too many unforced errors to pull ahead.”

Baylie Battle added 13 assists for the Loggers, who close out the first half of conference play with a record of 2-2.
