Warriors lead the way in the Little 5 after third straight win

Since dropping their conference opener two weeks ago, the Hoopa Warriors have been unstoppable in Little 5 volleyball.

On Tuesday night, the Hoopa girls won their third straight conference game and took over sole possession of top spot in the standings.

The Warriors welcomed Northcoast Prep to Hoopa and won in straight sets, 25-13, 25-17, 25-9.

Once again several players made big contributions for Hoopa, as has been the case for such of the season.

Standout sophomore Maggie Morris, in her second season playing at the varsity level, had another big game for the conference leaders.

Morris finished with team highs in kills with eight and in digs with eight.

She also had five aces.

Senior Annie Lanning also continued to impress and led the way serving with a co-team-best six aces to go with five digs and four kills.

Millennia McKindley added six kills and four aces, while Rikki Lipscomb matched Lanning with six aces and also had four digs.

And that’s not all for the Warriors.

Senior Harmony Nelson continued to impress setting her teammates up for success and dished out 24 assists, while Julia Lanning had five digs.

The Warriors’ lone loss in conference play came at St. Bernard’s in their Little 4 opener and the two teams will face off again in a pivotal showdown in Hoopa next Tuesday.

Hoopa has a bye in conference play on Thursday night, while St. Bernard’s travels to South Fork and Ferndale hosts Northcoast Prep.

Next up on Thursday, St. Bernard’s plays at South Fork and Ferndale will host Northcoast Prep.

Hoopa has a bye in conference play on Thursday.
