LITTLE 5 VOLLEYBALL — Hoopa, SB girls move into a tie for first

The Hoopa Warriors and St. Bernard’s Crusaders moved into a tie for top spot in the Little 5 standings with straight-set victories on Thursday night.

The Crusaders hosted Northcoast Prep and won 25-8, 25-8, 25-10, while the Warriors entertained Ferndale and won 25-21, 25-18, 26-24.

Both teams improved to 2-1 in conference play, while the Wildcats remain right on their heels with a record of 1-1.

Ella Hart had a big night serving for the SB girls and finished with 13 aces while helping her team to 18 points.

She capped a good all-around game with three kills, three digs and two assists.

Teammate Jocelyn Sundberg also had a good game at the net and finished with seven kills, while Natalie McLaughlin served five aces and helped her team earn 11 points.

For Hoopa, the impressive Annie Lanning led her team with nine kills, while teammate Maggie Morris added six kills and Millennia McKindley had five.

McKindley also had a good night serving and had eight aces, while Lanning and Morris each had four.

Setter Harmony Nelson finished with 28 assists, while on the back row Ivy Lamebear had a team-high 12 digs.

Lanning and Morris each rounded out good all-around nights with six and five digs, respectively.
