Upstate series to crown season champs at RAR this weekend

The 2024 Redwoods Acres Raceway season will conclude this weekend with the Steve Taylor Memorial Fall Spectacular.

And champions will be crowned in both the Upstate Modifieds and Upstate Bombers series.

The final night of action in what has been a limited season this year takes place on Saturday night.

Grandstands open at 4 p.m., with the racing set to start at 5.

The final night will also include local late models, Legends and mini stocks, although no champions will be crowned in those divisions after a shortened season that saw multiple cancellations for various reasons.

Saturday night will conclude with the Hook’ Em & Sling Boat Race Of Destruction featuring RAR’s Pacific Towing going up against Ukiah Speedway’s T And T Towing.

The race is presented by Leon’s Car Care Center and Shafer’s Ace Hardware.

Sierra Furia has a relatively safe lead in the modifieds series and should take the series title barring any unforeseen circumstances.

Furia holds a 42-point lead over second-placed Trystan Mucci, with Sal Martinez third in the season standings and trailing the leader by 82 points.

The race for the championship in the Upstate Bomber series is much closer, with Eureka’s Jordan Krupa holding a slender three-point lead over Redwood Valley’s Terry Pittman going into the final night.

The championship will go to one of those two drivers, who hold a sizable advantage of the rest of the field.

Pre-sale tickets for the weekend races are available at Don’s Rent-All in Eureka, JC Auto in Fortuna, McKinleyville Barbershop in McKinleyville and on RacinTheAcres.com.
