The Eureka Loggers lost a non-league volleyball match against Fort Bragg on Friday night, falling 23-25, 24-26, 19-25.

The Eureka girls will have a quick turnaround and will try to bounce back at Saturday’s 16-team Arcata tournament which will take place at both Arcata and McKinleyville high schools.

Sophomore Tiara Maualuga continued her impressive start to the new season in Friday’s loss and led the Loggers with nine kills.

However, the Loggers were unable to get much going for much of the night.

“We came out flat and couldn’t get the energy up,” head coach Stephanie Napoleon said. “Lots of unforced errors really cost it for us.”

Samara Gaither added six kills in the loss, while Alena Battle had five kills.

Macy Perkins had a good night at the service line for the Eureka girls and finished with six ace to go with two kills.

“Hopefully we can rebound quickly,” Napoleon added.
