The Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series will return to the Redwood Acres Raceway for the first time since 2016 this Saturday, bringing in the top late model drivers in the west.

In addition, the Spears Modified Series will also make its Redwood Acres debut on Saturday night, while the Nor Cal Legends Series will also be in action at the local track.

The weekend’s races are presented by Harper Motors, Mid-City Motor World, Big Valley Sanitation and JM Environmental.

Also this weekend, the raceway will hold a special Fan Fest on Friday, with fans getting the opportunity to see all three touring series practice during the afternoon.

Following the practice session, special Dash For Cash races will take place.

Saturday’s race night will be the second-to-last of the season and will feature the JM Environmental Inc Wild West Shootout Money Talks 127, which is presented by Big Valley Sanitation for the Spears SRL Southwest Tour.

A check for $15,000 will go to the winner of the feature event.

SRL series points leader Buddy Shepherd of Bakersfield will be leading an impressive list of drivers who will be racing Saturday night.

They include current SRL track record holder at the Acres, Blaine Rocha of Oakdale, as well as Austin Herzog of Clovis, multi-time SRL champion Jacob Gomes of Manteca and Dane Nissen from Williams.

Several RAR locals are also expected to race.

The Spears Modified Series 75 is expected to draw a large field of modified drivers with many of the Upstate Modified Series regulars joining the field.

Nearly 30 Nor Cal Legends Series drivers attended the Acres in their last race on Aug. 10 and a similar car count should be in the cards for this weekend.

Friday’s Fan Fest starts at 5 p.m. and tickets are $5 at the gate.

Children five and under get in free.

Pre-sale tickets for Saturday’s races are still available through the week at Don’s Rent-All in Eureka, JC Auto in Fortuna, McKinleyville Barbershop in McKinleyville and on RacinTheAcres.com.

Gates open on Saturday at 4 p.m., while racing action begins at 5.

More information about the weekend can be found on RAR’s Facebook page.
