
Three familiar rivals will battle it out for the District 26 Little League 12U Championship after Klamath Trinity was eliminated on Tuesday night.
The tournament, which is being hosted by Southern Humboldt in Redway, began on Saturday and will continue at least through Thursday.
On Tuesday night, McKinleyville won the battle of the unbeaten teams with a 5-1 win over Eel River to move into the championship round.
Also on Tuesday, Redwood Empire won a second straight elimination game, defeating Klamath Trinity 13-1 to remain in contention.
Redwood Empire and Eel River will now face off in an elimination game on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. with the winner advancing to play McKinleyville in the championship round on Thursday.
That Holiday showdown will take place at 10:30 a.m. after being moved froward from noon in order to beat the heat.
If the Mack All-Stars win they would be crowned District 26 champs, but if they lose it would set up a winner-takes-all final on Friday night at 6 p.m.
Both the 11U and 10U championships were not decided until after a second championship game.
On the opening day of the 12U tournament on Saturday, Arcata defeated Klamath Trinity and Southern Humboldt defeated Redwood Empire.
On Sunday, Eel River got the better of Arcata and McKinleyville opened with a victory over Southern Humboldt.
There were two elimination games on Monday, with Klamath Trinity defeating Southern Humboldt and Redwood Empire getting the better of Arcata.
Also this week, the McKinleyville Junior All-Stars will host their section tournament, which gets under way on Friday at Hiller Park.
The Mack All-Stars open tournament play on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
