Former Jacks star Cappa officially one of the busiest men in the NFL

Former Humboldt State Lumberjack Alex Cappa has been a busy man the past few years.

Since graduating from the local university (now Cal Poly Humboldt) after a standout career playing football for the Lumberjacks, Cappa has featured heavily in the NFL.

In fact, since 2020 no offensive player in the entire NFL has featured more heavily than Cappa, who has established himself as one of the most reliable and durable guards in the league.

According to a post on X on Friday by Dov Kleiman, during that time the former Jacks star has played more NFL snaps than any other offensive player and the fourth most of any player.

The Dublin native, who plays for the Cincinnati Bengals, has been on the field for 4,406 snaps over the past four seasons.

Laken Tomlinson of the Seattle Seahawks has featured the second most among offensive players with 4,398 snaps, followed by Joel Bitonio of the Cleveland Browns (4,391), Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills (4,383) and Jason Kelce of the Philadelphia Eagles (4,377).

Interestingly, four of the top five are all linemen.

After his time with the Jacks, Cappa was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft (94th overall).

He played four years with the Bucs and reached the Super Bowl with the team in the 2020 season, although he missed that game after picking up an injury in the playoffs.

Since then, however, the 29-year-old has not missed much time, as Friday’s post would suggest.

He also continues to show his appreciation for the Cal Poly Humboldt weight room program and the impact Lumberjacks strength and conditioning coach Drew Petersen had on his career.

When Cappa is featured on a nationally televised primetime game, instead of naming the university he played for during the players’ personal intros, which most players do, Cappa gives a shout out to Lumberjack Iron, Cal Poly Humboldt’s weight room program.

The Jacks dropped football after the 2018 season, a decision that did not sit well with many of the university’s sports fans and alumni.

Cappa also worked for the Humboldt Crabs during his time in the area.
