By Ray Hamill — One day after winning their North Coast Section softball semifinal against Lower Lake, the St. Bernard’s Crusaders found out on Wednesday where and when the championship game will take place.
The SB girls, who defeated Lower Lake 4-0, are seeded No. 6 in the bracket and will travel to play No. 5 Berean Christian.
The game, however, has been switched to Friday afternoon because both schools have other commitments on Friday and Saturday nights.
Berean Christian has graduation on Friday night and St. Bernard’s has prom on Saturday night.
Because of that, the NCS has worked with both schools to find a solution, with first pitch set for 2 p.m.
The big showdown will take place at Clayton Valley Charter School in Concord, which is six miles from Berean Christian High School in Walnut Creek.
The Crusaders will be playing for their fourth all-time section championship in the sport and their first since 2011, having also won in 2009 and 1994.
The Eagles will be playing for their third ever title, having previously won in 2004 and 2017.
Berean Christian is 12-6 on the season and is coming off back-to-back playoff wins on the road against higher seeds.
The St. Bernard’s girls opened the postseason with a 14-4 win over The Bay School at home, before knocking off No. 3 seed St. Vincent de Paul 6-4 on the road to set up Tuesday’s semifinal against Lower Lake.
The Crusaders are 19-9.

The St. Bernard’s players and coaches celebrate their NCS semifinal win on Tuesday.
