By Ray Hamill — It’s official. College of the Redwoods will play Hartnell in the 2023 Grizzly Bowl at Cal Poly Humboldt’s Redwood Bowl on Dec. 2.
The Corsairs secured second place in the American Pacific 7 conference with a 42-0 win over Siskiyous in Saturday’s regular-season finale at the Redwood Bowl.
And that earned CR a home bowl game for the second straight year.
On Sunday it was confirmed Hartnell will be CR’s opponent for the postseason game.
Last season, the Corsairs faced Monterey Peninsula in the Grizzly Bowl and fell 42-21.
The Corsairs have not won a bowl game since 1993 and the coaches and players will be eager to end that run this fall.
“We’re very focused on breaking that 30-year streak,” head coach Jason White said. “We definitely want to get that monkey off our back.”
According to the coach, the sophomores on this year’s team who played in last year’s bowl game are particularly eager to close out their CR careers with a bowl game victory.
“They have not forgotten that,” he said.
The Dec. 2 Grizzly Bowl will kick off at 1 p.m.
