Big 4 football finales to be broadcast on local radio

Photos by Ray Hamill/ – A big crowd is expected at Husky Field on Friday night, but for those unable to attend, the game will be broadcast live on local radio and streamed live online.

By Ray Hamill — The local high school football regular season concludes this weekend with two pivotal games in the Big 4.

Both showdowns could have a big say in the championship and both will be broadcast live on local radio for fans unable to attend.

First up, on Friday night Del Norte travels to Fortuna, where a win for the Warriors will secure a fourth straight conference championship outright.

Del Norte already secured at least a share of the conference crown with a big come-from-behind win over St. Bernard’s last week.

However, Fortuna can still claim a share of the Big 4 title with a win on Friday night and an expected big home crowd will be hoping to sway the game in the Huskies’ direction.

The big showdown will be broadcast live on both Mix 95.1 FM and KPOD 97.9 FM, as well as through

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m., with the pregame shows getting under way 15 minutes before that.

Tag Wotherspoon will call the game on 95.1 FM, while John Pritchett and John “Mad Dog” Horner will call the action on 97.9 FM and

The game will also be streamed live on the NFHS Network.

The weekend action continues on Saturday afternoon with another game that could have championship ramifications.

If Fortuna wins on Friday night, then a win for St. Bernard’s over Eureka at Crusader Field on Saturday afternoon will result in a three-way split for the championship.

Game time on Saturday is set for 2 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on Mix 95.1 FM, with Wotherspoon again calling the action.

Saturday’s pregame show gets under way at 1:45 p.m.
