Officials gets new assignor ahead of high school season

The Six Rivers Basketball Officials Association (SRBOA) announced on Monday that Justin Yslas has been hired as the as new assignor for the 2023/24 H-DNL high school basketball season.

Yslas has more than 11 years of experience as an official with SRBOA

The Del Norte resident has previous experience as an assignor for adult and youth leagues in different sports as well as assigning officials for tournaments at the junior high level.

He also has past experience as a Recreation Director for the County of Del Norte for over seven years.

The SRBOA assignor position became vacant earlier this year when Mike Harvey stepped down after one year in charge.

The new assignor will be responsible for assigning officials for around 400 games at the varsity, JV and freshmen levels.

The local high school basketball season tips off in late November.

    refs are quitting because of insider administrator types who are offending them…

    …good refs quit when the bad refs don’t make the right calls because bad refs are scared of the critiques, or don’t know…

    …good refs quit because certification tests are bogus, as bad refs get certified and do not enforce rules, often under the guise of trifling to save their skin from critique… which is gonna happen either way, so make the right call!
