The H-DNL swept the top four spots in the boys race at this past weekend’s Clam Beach Invitational with McKinleyville senior Damian Dinan crossing the line in first.
Dinan, who has won all three league races he has competed in this fall, beat the field by almost half a minute, finishing the three-mile course in a time of 16 minutes, 52 seconds.
Arcata had runners place second and third on the way to the team win, comfortably topping the field of 11 schools.
Senior Nathan Whitney paced the Tigers in a time of 17:21 on his way to placing second, while junior teammate Reece Thompson followed up his first career league win last week with a third place finish just three seconds back.
Impressive Eureka freshman Ryder Bullman, who already has a pair of top-four finished in league races, placed fourth, followed by Del Campo’s Jeyden Lemes in fifth.
Del Campo placed second as a team with 71 points well behind Arcata (28).
Eureka (75) was third, with West Valley and Ukiah rounding out the top five teams.
Other notable local finishers included Arcata’s Kai Frimodig in sixth, Arcata’s Levi Browne in eighth, Eureka’s Everett Docherty in 12th, Arcata’s Eoin McGoldrick in 14th, Arcata’s Ocean Walker in 16th and Eureka’s Chase Jimenez and Sean Morris in 20th and 21st.
Lassen freshman Kimberlee Mckernan won the race in a time of 19:21, followed by Central Valley’s Tea Kaizen in second in a time of 19:37.
Ashby finished in a time of 20:17.
West Valley took the team win with 41 points followed by St. Mary’s (50) and Eureka (56).
Ashby’s teammate Miriam Mende was sixth, with Arcata’s Sonya Chisholm in 14th, Eureka’s Summer Morales in 15th, and Arcata’s Sydney Ventuleth and Sasha Love in 17th and 18th.
The local runners will resume league competition in a race hosted by Northcoast Prep at the Arcata Sports Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
