The St. Bernard’s girls continued to roll in Little 5 volleyball with a four sets win at Ferndale on Tuesday night as they close in on another league championship.
The defending L5 champs won 25-17, 23-25, 25-13, 25-15.
Reigning league MVP Madelyn Shanahan led the way with 16 kills and three aces in the win, as the SB girls improved to 5-0 in league play and 12-9 overall.
The Crusaders have three matches remaining in the Little 5 and have now beaten their closest challengers Ferndale, twice.
They can clinch at least a share of the league title with a win over Northcoast Prep at St. Bernard’s on Thursday.
Shanahan wasn’t the only player to shine in Tuesday’s win.
Teammate Rihanna Fontenot also is enjoying a big season and added eight kills, while Sahara Tupua dished out 30 assists and had five aces.
In other Little 5 matches on Tuesday, the Hoopa Warriors defeated South Fork in Miranda.
The Hoopa girls won 25-23, 25-11, 25-18.
Annie Lanning led the way for the Warriors and finished with a team-high seven kills in the win, while freshman Maggie Morris and junior Millennia McKindley each added five kills.
Lanning also dished out a team-high 14 assists.
Next up, on Thursday, Hoopa will host Ferndale while South Fork has a bye.
