Montana among Division-III national leaders in passing yards

By Ray Hamill — Two games into his senior season at Lewis & Clark, Cruz Montana is one of the top Division-III quarterbacks in the nation in passing yards.

Montana and the Pioneers are off to a 1-1 start, beating Willamette 38-7 this past weekend after suffering a 42-38 loss at the University of Puget Sound in week one.

The 2019 Eureka High graduate impressed in both games and his 648 yards passing is seventh best in the nation among D-III QBs.

In week one, Montana completed 21 of 34 passes for 352 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 19 yards and a TD.

In week two, he completed 23 of 34 passes for 296 yards and three more TDs, giving him seven touchdown passes and just two interceptions in two games.

Montana and the Pioneers will try to make it two straight wins when they play at Montana Western this Saturday, with kickoff set for noon.
