Former H-DNL standout Caleb Ruiz threw seven shutout innings to lead the Humboldt Crabs to an 8-4 win over Seals Baseball at the Arcata Ball Park on Tuesday night.
Ruiz allowed just three hits and two walks on the way to his third win of the summer and struck out eight Seals batters.
For the season, the 2019 St. Bernard’s graduate is now 3-2 with a save in nine appearances and has an ERA of 2.76.
He has 47 strikeouts in 39 innings.
And he wasn’t the only local player to shine in Tuesday’s win, as the Crabs improved to 36-7 on the summer.
Former Eureka Logger Jackson Giacone had one of the hot bats in the win, finishing 2-for-3 with a walk, including a double.
Giacone drove home two Crabs runs and scored another.
Peyton Miller also had a good night for the home team and finished 3-for-5, while Wyatt Reginatto and Kawana Soares each had a pair of hits and Michael McKernan had a double.
The Crabs, who have now won 17 of their last 18 games, will conclude two-game series against Seals Baseball on Wednesday night before closing out the season with a three-game weekend series against the Sacramento Yankees.
