Here we go again.
McKinleyville’s Cameron Saso will compete for a state championship in baseball with the Folsom Lake Falcons for the second straight year, beginning this weekend.
The 2020 Mack High graduate is an influential two-way player with the Falcons, playing shortstop as well as pitching, and he is joined on this year’s team by 2022 St. Bernard’s graduate Aidan Dorsch.
Folsom Lake qualified for the four-team state finals after taking two of three games from San Joaquin Delta last weekend.
The Falcons are the only returning team from last year’s final four after finishing second to Riverside City College.
Saso got the win on the mound in game one of last weekend’s series, which the Falcons won 12-6.
He allowed just one earned run on seven hits and three walks in 4.1 innings.
The busy Saso, who also played for the Humboldt Crabs last summer, has appeared in 31 games this season and is batting .213 with 10 RBIs while playing shortstop.
He has appeared in 16 games on the hill for a total of 54.1 innings, which is second most on the team.
For the season, Saso is 5-1 with a save and has an ERA of 4.31 with 60 strikeouts.
Dorsch, meanwhile, is on the pitching staff and has appeared in 15 games, including 13 appearances out of the bullpen.
He has 14 strikeouts in 16.2 innings.
The Falcons (36-11) are the host school for the state tournament and open on Saturday against Santa Ana (33-15), which is the No. 2 seed from SoCal.
First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
