By Ray Hamill — The H-DN announced the dates of this year’s Charlie Lakin tournament on Tuesday.

The annual league postseason tournament for softball and baseball will take place in the second week of May after the Big 5 and Little 4 schedules have been completed.

The top three teams in each league will qualify for the tournament, which gets under way on Wednesday May 10.

All of the tournament softball games will take place at the Arcata sports complex, with the baseball games scheduled for the Arcata Ball Park.

Wednesday’s and Thursday’s softball games will start at 5 and 7 p.m., with the baseball games on those days being played at 4 and 7 p.m.

Friday will feature a pair of championship showdowns, with the softball final scheduled for 5 p.m. and the baseball decider getting started at 7 p.m.

Opening day in both tournaments will see the No. 2 seed from the L4 playing the No. 3 seed from the Big 5, and the No. 3 seed from the Little 4 playing the No. 2 from the Big 5.

The Arcata Tigers are the defending Charlie Lakin baseball tournament champs, while the Eureka Loggers won last year’s softball tournament.
