The Hoopa Warriors kept rolling with another doubleheader sweep at St. Bernard’s on Saturday, as the defending Little 4 champs got their league campaign off to a successful start.
The Warriors took the opener 6-1 and won game two 10-0, stretching their winning streak to eight straight, all of them within the past eight days.
Tatiana Colegrove, who is this week’s Humboldt Sports Athlete of the Week, continued to impress and pitched both wins.
The senior struck out 14 batters in the opener, while walking just one, and followed that with nine strikeouts and just three walks in game two.
She got plenty of help from her offense, with nine different Hoopa players hitting successfully and showcasing the depth in their lineup.
In game two, the hard-hitting Colegrove went 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles, while teammate Nalani Colegrove was 3-for-4 and Millenia McKindley went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles.
Bella Valentine, Diamond Bibancos and Jewely Bibancos each added two hits in that win, while Maizey Maloney was 1-for-4 with a double and Rianna Bain was 1-for-4.
Valentine also had a pair of hits in game one, as did Nae-Rew Martin, who had a double, while Maloney and the Bibancos twins each also had a hit.
The victory lifts the Warriors to 2-0 in league play and 8-2 overall.
The Crusaders, meanwhile, dropped to 0-2 in league and 4-10 overall.

Aubree Saunderson and Hannah Finck each had a base hit for the Crusaders in game one, with the latter scoring the team’s only run, while Torrin Baty took the loss in the circle.
Saunderson and Finck added another hit each in game two, while Ella Jimenez went 1-for-2 and took the loss in the circle, and Kodi Meyer was 1-for-4.
Defensively, Allyson Hagler made some big plays at first base, while digging some errant throws out of the dirt.
In center field Sierra Mendoza also had a good day and did an excellent job tracking down some fly balls for outs.
