The St. Bernard’s Crusaders continued their Arizona road trip with a doubleheader split on the opening day of the Estrella Foothills Wolves Classic on Friday.
The Crusaders dropped their tourney opener to Snowflake 13-0, before bouncing back to beat Buckeye 16-0.
Senior Tyler Dimmick pitched a complete-game two-hitter in the win and struck out nine batters, as St. Bernard’s improved to 7-6 on the season.
He got plenty of help from his offense, with six different SB players finishing with one each hit each.
Seth Brunton was 1-for-1 with three RBIs, while Adam Wagner was 1-for-1 with two RBIs and Tyler Maples went 1-for-2 with three RBIs and a run.
Tyler Hinrichs also was 1-for-2 with three runs, Isaiah Wolfe went 1-for-3 with two runs and Dimmick finished 1-for-2 with two runs and an RBI.
The SB boys scored seven runs in the second inning and added six more in the fifth to end the game early.
Earlier in the day, the Crusaders were held to just three hits against Snowflake, one each by Brunton, Wolfe and Brayden Luna.
The Crusaders continue tournament play against Independence High out of Arizona on Saturday at 9 a.m.
