By Ray Hamill — Excitement is building at College of the Redwoods, as the Corsairs get set to play in the men’s basketball playoffs for the third straight season.
The CR men are seeded No. 6 for the NorCal tournament and received an opening-round bye.
They will tip off their postseason at home on Saturday night against No. 11 Consumnes River, which defeated No. 22 West Hills-Leemore 84-71 in the opening round on Wednesday.
Game time is set for 7 p.m. and doors will open at 5 p.m.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for seniors (60 and over), students, staff and children under 12.
The Hawks are 20-9 and the Sacramento college has won 12 of the last 13 games including a run of 11 straight wins late in the regular season.
The Corsairs, meanwhile, are enjoying one of their most successful seasons ever, including breaking the program record for most wins in a single season with a record of 25-3.
For fans unable to make Saturday’s game, it will be streamed live here at a cost of $8.
The winner will advance to play either No. 3 College of the Sequoias or No. 19 College of San Mateo, which also play on Saturday.
The winner of that game will then advance to the California Elite Eight tournament.
