Senior forward Evan Hodges scored a team-high 18 points to lead the Loggers to a comfortable 73-30 win over Ferndale at Eureka High in non-league boys basketball on Saturday afternoon.
The Eureka boys came storming out of the gate and put up 28 points in the opening quarter as they returned to winning ways against the Little 4 opponents.
Hodges had four 3-pointers in the win, while teammate Nate Hill also had a good game and finished with 11 points.
The victory lifts the Loggers to 8-11 on the season and was achieved with a balanced team performance, with 11 of the 12 Eureka players scoring.
Hans Chalmers added 10 points in the win, while Jordan Urban and Kaleb Green each finished with eight points, Nelson Botzler Washington had six and Jahmil Rippey five.
The Wildcats also started strong and scored 15 points in the opening quarter, before being held to just four points in each of the second and fourth periods.
The game was the fourth of the week for the Wildcats.
Kannon Christiansen scored a team-best 12 points for the Cats, while teammate Thomas Fergison added 11 points and Jack Westfall had five.
Things won’t get any easier for the Ferndale boys when they host Big 5 leaders Arcata on Tuesday night.
The Loggers will return to league play when they travel to play Del Norte, also on Tuesday.
