The Wildcats swept a pair of varsity basketball games at Hayfork on Tuesday, as both teams continue to roll.

The Ferndale boys won 82-41 and improved to 11-4, while the girls won 50-10 and are now 13-3.

Thomas Fergison, Kannon Christiansen and Jack Werstfall all impressed for the Ferndale boys, who took control of the game early thanks to an effective press.

“I felt like we pushed the ball when we needed and ran through our offense when necessary,” head coach Tristan Waters said. “I was happy with our defense for sure and our bench got some great minutes.”

Fergison shot the ball well.

“I felt Thomas took over this game and stayed in control,” the head coach said.

Christiansen scored a game-high 19 points and was “great about getting to the bucket,” the coach said, while the ever-dangerous Westfall added 15 points.

“He did a real good job facilitating the offense for us,” Waters said of the latter.

The Ferndale girls, meanwhile, quickly took control of their game as well, holding the Hayfork offense scoreless in the opening quarter and opening up a 29-4 lead by halftime.

Final stats for the Ferndale girls were not immediately available.

Both teams will return to league play later this week, with the girls hosting South Fork on Thursday and the boys playing at South Fork on Friday.
