The Fortuna boys placed 13th at the two-day Anderson tournament this weekend, with two Huskies taking home an individual title.

Also on Friday, the Del Norte Warriors won their H-DNL dual meet opener in Crescent City, defeating the McKinleyville Panthers 69-9.

At Anderson, Fortuna’s Mason Evanow had another strong tournament showing and placed first in the 120-pound division.

He wasn’t the only Fortuna grappler to impress.

In the girls tournament, Lonna Torrez placed first in the 235 bracket, while teammate Chloe Cox placed second at 106.

As a team, the Fortuna boys followed up their dual meet victory over Eureka earlier in the week with an impressive 13th-place finish out of 32 teams.

Cayden Spiers had a big tournament and finished sixth at 106, while Elias Golder was eighth at 113.

The Del Norte boys, meanwhile, got the H-DNL dual meet season off to a good start with their victory over McKinleyville.

The defending league champs showcased their depth by winning 12 of the 14 matchups, including five with a pin in the opening minute.
