By Ray Hamill — With power out across much of the North Coast and travel conditions hazardous, several high school sporting events scheduled for Wednesday evening have been postponed.
All of the scheduled Big 5 boys basketball games have been pushed back, including defending champion Arcata’s trip to Fortuna.
That triple-header of games, which also includes freshmen and JVs, will now be played on Monday instead.
The three games between the Del Norte Warriors and Panthers at McKinleyville High have also been pushed back and will now be played on the evening of Saturday, Jan. 28.
The Little 4 schedule also has been affected.
The Ferndale girls’ trip to Hoopa will now be played on Monday evening.
No official word yet on whether the non-league boys basketball showdown between the Eureka Loggers and South Fork Cubs in Miranda has been called.
We will update that as soon as we hear.
In wrestling, meanwhile, a dual meet in Crescent City between the host Del Norte Warriors and McKinleyville and Ferndale also has been called.
The coaches are still working on a make-up date.
