By Ray Hamill — Local MMA fighter Cass Bell has made weight for his highly-anticipated return to the cage this week.
Bell is scheduled to fight Jared Scoggins in a bantamweight showdown at Bellator 289 in Connecticut on Friday.
“Made weight! Thank you all so much for your support, couldn’t have done it with out you! Now I eat!” Bell announced on social media on Thursday morning.
“I’m super excited,” Bell said at the time. “I have’t fought in a while, so I’m ready to get back in there. I’m more motivated than I’ve ever been.”
Bell fights out of the Institute of Combat and is 5-2 as a pro fighter, with all seven of his fights at Bellator events.
The 35-year-old was the first locally based fighter to break through to the big time and he won his first five Bellator fights before dropping two straight, both of which was held without fans because of the pandemic.
And he says he is looking forward to the opportunity to fight in front of fans again on Friday.
It’s been a busy few weeks for Bell, who also is the head coach of the Arcata High wrestling team, which got the new season started last weekend.
Friday’s prelim fights will be streamed live on Bellator’s YouTube channel, beginning at 2 p.m
