The South Fork Cubs fell short in their bid for a league title on Friday night, falling 32-0 to Stuart Hall in their regular-season finale.

The Cubs finished 4-2 in the NCL-II and 6-4 overall and will advance to the North Coast Section playoffs, with the brackets and seeds set to be announced on Sunday.

The Knights, who have a roster of more than 30 players, closed out league play 6-0 and should receive the top seed for the eight-man NCS field.

South Fork’s only other loss in league play was against Branson, which should receive the two seed.

“I hope we get another shot at one of them,” South Fork head coach Karl Terrell said.

The Knights gradually pulled away on Friday and scored eight points in each quarter, while the Cubs had their chances, including three trips to the end zone resulting in no points.

“They had some big plays and we made some mistakes,” Terrell said. “But we’re as good as they are, we just didn’t play up to par,”

The Cubs had just 16 players unit up, with injuries and various reasons taking their toll on the roster.
