By Ray Hamill — The local college basketball season is just around the corner and fans will have a chance to check out both the College of the Redwoods and Cal Poly Humboldt men’s teams when they scrimmage on Saturday night (Oct. 22).
The preseason scrimmage will take place at Lumberjack Arena at 7 p.m. after the Cal Poly women’s volleyball match against Cal State Monterey Bay, which begins at 4 p.m.
The scrimmage is open to the public and free of admission.
Head coach Tae Norwood and the Lumberjacks will tip off the new basketball season against Western Washington in British Columbia on Nov. 11.
Their home opener against Sonoma State on Nov. 22 will also be their conference opener.
They are also scheduled to scrimmage Las Positas College on Friday.
The Corsairs, meanwhile, will begin the new season on Nov. 4 at a tournament in Napa.
According to head coach Ryan Bisio, the CR men are still trying to finalize their roster.
We’ll have more on the Corsairs next week on Humboldt Sports.
