St. Bernard’s completed a perfect run through league play in volleyball with a straight sets win over Hoopa on Tuesday night.

The Little 4 champions celebrated Senior Night with the 25-18, 25-16, 25-20 victory and closed out league play with a record of 8-0.

The team honored seniors Kodi Meyer, Ella Jimenez and Marce Davila before the game, all three of whom are four-year varsity players.

“All of them were a huge part of our success this year,” head coach Wendy Joyner said. “Their absence next year will really be felt. Each contributed in every win.”

Meyer had a team-best 26 assists on Tuesday, while teammate Madelyn Shanahan had 18 kills and continued to play at an MVP level.

“Maddy is a well-rounded player,” the coach said. “I can always count on her and her leadership. She can pass, block, hit and serve. She always challenges herself to get better and is an amazing teammate.”

The league champs will now turn their attention to the North Coast Section playoffs and will host a game next week.

The Crusaders, who are now 12-15 overall, will find out their playoff seed and opening opponent on Sunday.

“Every single girl has contributed to our success this year and I am so proud of all of them,” Joyner added.
