Hannah Hartwell’s remarkable College of the Redwoods career continued this past weekend when she set a new meet record at the Butte Invite in cross country.
Hartwell set several school records in track and field in the spring and has carried that form into the cross country season.
She finished the three-mile run in a time of 18 minutes 29.3 seconds, which was 59 seconds better than the field.
CR, who had three of the top five finishers at the three-team event, also won the team championship.
Kristin Bonomini placed fourth in a time of 21:47.8 and Chloe Allen was fifth in a time of 22:24.1.
Both Bonimni and Allen had PR times.
Teammates Deborah Wells and Anika J. Sundeen were eight and 11th, respectively.
The women’s team is coming together,” head coach Reed Elmore said of the Corsairs, who are fancied No. 4 in NorCal.
The CR men, meanwhile, placed second to Butte and were led by Sean Dugdale, who placed fifth overall.
Dugdale finished the four-mile run in 23:38.4, with teammate Thomas Becannon in sixth and Henry Lamb in eighth.
“We need improvement across the board,” Elmore said the men’s team. “But it is happening.”
