Championships on the line as Redwood Acres Raceway gears up for season finale

The Redwood Acres Raceway looks set for an exciting final night of action on Saturday, with all five division championships yet to be decided and two of them going right down to the wire.

The season-concluding Fall Spectacular Event, which is presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts, will also include the North State Modified Series, along with racing for all five local divisions.

The North State Modified Series will be making its first visit this season after rain forced the cancelation of a scheduled June 4 event.

Saturday’s series race is the Dale Baldwin Challenge, a 60-lap event that pays $4,000 to the winner.

It should also be an exciting night for the local divisions, with just a slender three-point cushion for the leaders in two of them.

David Henderson leads the way in the race for the Late Models championship, but leads second-placed Mike Doss by just three points.

Likewise in the Mini Stocks, where Gary Klinetobe leads Brian Murrell, Jr. by the same margin.

The other three divisions are a little more clearcut, although not officially decided.

In the Legends class, Tyler Avelar holds a 33-point advantage over Jeremy Doss in second, while in the Bomber class, Jordan Krupa has a comfortable 25-point lead over Raquel Krupa.

In the Roadrunner division, the impressive Tanisha Ratzlaff holds a 17-point advantage over Dylan Ford.

Tickets for Saturday’s races are available for purchase online at RacinTheAcres.com or at the usual local outlets, Automasters and Don’s Rent-All in Eureka, McKinleyville Barbershop and JC Auto in Fortuna.

Saturday’s races will also be streamed live on RacinTheAcres.tv and SpeedSport.tv.

Grandstands open at 4 p.m. with racing beginning at 5:30.

Sage Taylor, wife of the late NSMS racer Steve Taylor, will also be handing out trophies in honor of her husband to the first 250 kids that enter.
