By Ray Hamill — The final score wasn’t exactly what the home fans had hoped for, but Saturday was a day to savor nonetheless as college football returned to the North Coast after a three-year break.

College of the Redwoods hosted San Jose City College at the Redwood Bowl, falling 30-27.

But it was an entertaining showdown that saw the Corsairs battle back from an early deficit to make a game of it.

The Corsairs, who dropped to 0-2, will travel to Coalinga next week to play West Hills.

The Jaguars improved to 1-0 with the win.
