By Ray Hamill — The McKinleyville All-Stars might have been crowned District 26 champs on Thursday night, but the week belonged to all six teams who competed at the 8-10s tournament in Arcata.
The action got under way on Saturday and ran for six days, giving us 10 fun games, with several of them high-scoring affairs.
Mack won all three of their games on the way to the championship, outscoring their opponents by a combined 42-0.
They will now advance to play at the Area tournament in Chico next month.
The Redwood Empire All-Stars also had a good tournament, edging Eel River 5-3 in one of the closest games of the week on Wednesday to reach the championship game.
Eel River, meanwhile, won back-to-back elimination games on Monday and Tuesday to keep their tournament going and they were the busiest team of the week, playing on five straight days and closing out 3-2.
The most exciting game of the week was probably the Eel River and Arcata matchup on opening day, which Eel River edged 13-11.
