By Ray Hamill — Former McKinleyville Panther and future Humboldt Crab Cameron Saso is enjoying plenty of success on the collegiate baseball fields this season.
Saso and the Lake Folsom College Falcons will play in the NorCal finals this weekend, with a place in next week’s four-team state championships up for grabs.
The Falcons have won four straight playoff games, including two wins over Butte College in the Northern Super Regionals last weekend.
Folsom Lake won 13-2 and 7-4.
In game one, Saso started at shortstop and finished 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and two runs.
Former Ferndale Wildcat Landon Gomes and former Eureka Logger Hayden Bode both saw game time for Butte, with Gomes finishing 1-for-4 in the loss.
This weekend, Saso and the Falcons will play San Joaquin Delta in a best-of-three series in one of the two North finals, with the action getting under way on Friday.
Saso, who will debut with the Humboldt Crabs this summer, is a two-way player for Lake Folsom and is batting .238 with seven doubles.
He has made 12 appearances on the mound and is 1-0 with an ERA of 3.38 with three saves.
The Falcons are 36-6-1 on the season.
