South Fork girls sweep Little 4 doubleheader at Bear River

The South Fork girls improved to 4-2 in Little 4 softball on their return to league play on Thursday, sweeping a doubleheader against Ferndale at Bear River.

The Cubs won 17-8 in game one and 18-3 in five innings in game two.

Catcher Lily Carr had a big day offensively and finished with six hits.

Carr was 4-for-4 with a double, a walk and three runs in the opener and added two more doubles and three more runs in game two.

Summer Contreras got the win in the pitcher’s circle in game one, throwing a complete game and striking out 14, and also was 2-for-4 with a triple, a double and a walk in the nightcap.

A couple of freshman — Shawnessy Conway-O’Neill and Emily Balajadia — also had big days for the Cubs.

Conway-O’Neill got the win in the circle in game two, striking out four, while Balajadia had three hits over the two games including a double in game two.

The Cubs are now 4-7 overall, while the Wildcats are now 0-6 in the Little 4 and 1-7 overall.
