The Hoopa girls got the better of a Big 5 opponent in softball for the second time this season on Friday afternoon, beating Fortuna 11-3 at Hoopa.
Senior pitcher Savannah Colegrove was outstanding in the circle once again, holding the visiting bats to just two earned runs on five hits in a complete-game performance, while striking out 12.
Colegrove also was a force at the plate, finishing 2-for-4 and driving in two of her team’s runs.
Diamond Bibancos also had a good game for Hoopa and finished 2-for-4 with a double, while Tatianna Colegrove was 2-for-5 with a double and Bella Valentine was 2-for-5.
Jewely Bibancos also had a double, while Nalani Colegrove and Nae-rew Martin each also had a hit.
With the win, the Warriors improved to 10-3 and they are now 2-3 against Big 5 teams this spring, including a 3-2 loss to Fortuna earlier in the season.
Kelsie Hall led the way at the plate for Fortuna on Friday and finished 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Kylee Fennell was 1-for-2 with two runs, Catherine Duncan was 1-for-2 with an RBI and Mariah Smith was 1-for-3.
The Huskies, who have a bye in league play this week, are now 11-6 on the season.
The Hoopa girls, who are 4-0 in the Little 4, resume league play on Saturday when they visit St. Bernard’s for a doubleheader.
