The Arcata boys continued their remarkable season on the tennis courts by sweeping all six H-DNL singles titles at Saturday’s league championships.
Competing in very windy and chilly conditions at McKinleyville High, the Tigers did not drop a set in the six championship matches.
Nick Bosch won at No. 1 singles and defeated Eureka’s Tyler Petrusha in the championship match by a score of 6-1, 6-0.
Bosch will now advance to the North Coast Section singles championships, which will be held at Santa Rosa High in early May.
Aiden Waters also won for Arcata in the No. 2 singles bracket, defeating Northcoast Prep’s Gene Quinn 6-1, 6-1 in the decider, while teammate Mathias Severn defeated Eureka’s Kishan Patel in the No. 3 championship by a score of 6-2, 6-1.
The six wins for the Tigers follow a regular season that saw them win all 12 of their matches in league play, which remarkably was their fifth straight undefeated league campaign.
Also winning for Arcata on Saturday was Lootah Hall, who defeated Teagan Wence, 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 championship, as well as Bruin Nave, who defeated Del Norte’s Tyler Stanley 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 5 decider.
