College of the Redwoods Athletics – The Corsairs celebrate Friday’s doubleheader sweep at Bear River.
The Corsairs ended a six-game losing streak with a doubleheader sweep at home to Lassen on Friday, winning game one 8-0 in five innings and taking game two 5-1.
Kylee Dewey got both wins in the pitcher’s circle, allowing just five hits in 12 innings.
Brooke Faraimo had a big day at the plate and finished 5-for-7 over the two games with a double and four RBIs.
Ashley Ballew, Sadie Hampton and Ashley Pierce each added a double in game one, with Pierce hitting a walk-off double in the bottom of the fifth.
The sweep gives the Redwoods women three wins in four games against Lassen in conference this spring.
“It was great to win the series against Lassen College,” CR head coach Megan Valente said. “Kylee did amazing. She did a great job getting our left side ground balls.”
Bronwyn Arnold and Kathryce Danzuka each added two hits in game two, while Samantha Caughie had a triple.
“The bottom of our order stepped up today with timely hits,” Valente said.
The Corsairs, who improved to 3-9 in the Golden Valley Conference and 5-20-1 overall, will host Feather River in a doubleheader win Saturday at the Bear River sports complex.
Lassen dropped to 2-9 and 5-25.
