College of the Redwoods freshman Hannah Hartwell continued her assault on the school record books with another outstanding performance on Friday.
Competing at the Stanford Invite, Hartwell ran the 5000 meters in a time of 16 minutes, 48.19 seconds, smashing her own school record in the process.
She placed eighth, behind seven Division-I athletes.
It is the second time this season she has broken the Corsairs record in the event, and the fourth school record she has set this spring, having also done so in both the 800m and 1500m.
Competing against some of the top collegiate competition on the West Coast helped the CR standout knock 29 seconds off her previous record in the event.
The Carlsbad native spent a year running cross country at Cal Poly Humboldt (then Humboldt State) in 2019 before joining the Corsairs, and she has been one of several outstanding recruits for head coach Reed Elmore and the CR track program, which is enjoying a very successful spring.
