By Ray Hamill — Four H-DNL players have been named to the annual Rawlings-Perfect Game Preseason All-American California baseball team, including St. Bernard’s Nick Dugan, who is a first-team selection for the second straight year.

The senior pitcher, who has committed to play at Stanford after graduation, is 3-0 early in the campaign with an ERA of 0.41 and he posted his most impressive win of the season in a 4-3 victory over Arcata on Thursday.

He also has impressed at the plate and is batting .682 with three home runs and 11 RBIs.

Joining him on the list of Rawlings honorees are teammate Cayden Lee, Eureka’s Jackson Giacone and Arcata’s Nick Parker, giving the H-DNL an impressive contingent.

Giacone, who will play collegiately at Cal State Fullerton, has impressed for the Loggers this season and is batting .533 with 11 RBIs.

This is also the second consecutive year Giacone has been named to the California second team.

Likewise with Lee, who received an honorable mention on the prestigious list for the second straight year.

Lee, who has yet to decide on a college team, is batting .500 for the Crusaders this spring, with 10 RBIs, five doubles and a pair of home runs.

Parker has been equally impressive for a very good Arcata team and is listed as a Rawlings honorable mention for the first time.

Parker received some recognition over the past year while playing with Giacone for NorCal Baseball, a highly-respected travel club based in the Fresno area.

He is batting .400 for the Tigers this season.
