H-DNL teams get set for six-team tournament at Bear River

Ray Hamill/HumboldtSports.com – Arcata pitcher Morgan Ford and her teammates will open the Crusader Classic against Etna on Friday night.

For the second straight weekend, the St. Bernard’s Crusaders will host a tournament at the Bear River Sports Complex, this time in softball.

One week after an entertaining baseball tournament, the SB girls will welcome five other teams for the two-day Crusader Classic, with three games scheduled for Friday and six more on a busy Saturday, including the championship game at 6 p.m.

The field includes four local teams, with Arcata, Del Norte and Eureka joining the host school, along with Upper Lake and Etna.

The action gets under way on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m., when Upper Lake plays St. Bernard’s.

Also on Friday, Del Norte plays Eureka at 5:40 p.m., followed by Etna and Arcata at 7:20 p.m. to close out the opening day.

The action continues on Saturday morning, with Eureka and Arcata at 9 a.m., followed by Upper Lake and Del Norte at 10:40 a.m. and Etna and St. Bernard’s at 12:20 p.m.

The teams will then be seeded one through six, with a fifth-place game at 2:30 p.m., a third-place game at 4:10 p.m., and the championship showdown at 6.

The Eureka Loggers open the weekend tournament against Del Norte on Friday evening.
