The Fortuna Huskies kept their unbeaten start to the season going with a 7-2 victory over St, Bernard’s in softball on Thursday.

With the win, the Fortuna girls improved to 4-0.

The victory was the Huskies’ second over the Crusaders this season, but this time around the St. Bernard’s girls played them a lot closer than in last week’s 15-3 defeat.

Libby Johnston pitched a complete game for the win, allowing seven hits and two walks and striking out five.

Teammates Catherine Duncan, Zoe Dewberry, Mariah Smith and Faith Helms all finished 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Emma Wilson continued to impress for the Crusaders and finished 1-for-4, while also playing strong defense at shortstop.

Ella Jimenez took the loss in the circle, but continues to show a lot of growth this season, striking out four and walking just one.

Jimenez, Marce Davila, Courteney Goodman, Kiara McGinnis and Hannah Finck each had a hit for the St. Bernard’s girls, who are now 1-2.

Both Fortuna and St. Bernard’s will play at the weekend Cloverdale tournament, which gets under way on Friday.
