Former Fortuna Husky Adam Medeiros capped an impressive season on the college wrestling mats with a seventh-place finish at last weekend’s NCAA Division-III Central Region Championships.

Medeiros is a junior at Heidelberg University in Ohio and enjoyed a breakout season with the team, finishing the year with a record of 20-11.

He went 4-2 at the regional championships held in Adrian, Michigan, defeating Albion College’s Owen McDaniel in the 184-pound seventh-place match.

The 2019 Fortuna High graduate won on a 7-5 decision.

Medeiros was one of seven Heidelberg wrestlers to place at the tourney, which tied a school record.
