The South Fork girls rolled to a comfortable 53-36 win over Credo in Miranda on Saturday night, their second straight in the North Coast Section Division-6 basketball playoffs.
And the Cubs appear to have rediscovered their form at a good time.
After opening the season with eight wins in their first 10 games, the Cubs lost all six of their Little 4 games to close out the regular season.
Since then, however, they have outscored their two playoff opponents by a combined 104-48, while navigating a usually tricky 4 vs. 5 seed matchup against Credo with relative ease.
And they’re getting production from a number of players, including Summer Contreras, who scored a game-high 18 points on Saturday.
Shawnessy Conway-O’Neill also had a big game and finished with 10 points, while Kaylee Cotter added nine points and Natalie Roberts and Cadence Young each chipped in seven.
The win lifts the No. 4 Cubs to 10-10 and sets up an intriguing semifinal showdown at No. 1 Ferndale on Wednesday.
Saturday’s victory also guarantees the South Fork girls a berth in the state playoffs, which get under way next week.
Wednesday’s game is set for 7 p.m.
