The College of the Redwoods baseball team split four road games this weekend and are now 5-4 on the season.
The Corsairs beat Laney 5-2 on Thursday and followed that with a 14-2 win over DeAnza on Friday, before dropping two more against DeAnza on Saturday, falling 3-1 and 6-5.
Chandler Jones got the win on the mound at Laney, striking out nine, while Arcata’s Mason Nichols had a home run, hitting a key three-run blast to put his team ahead in the eighth inning.
Grant Lasserre also pitched well in relief, striking out five.
Axel Dobreff got the win on the mound in game one against DeAnza.
The CR softball team, meanwhile, went 0-4 over the weekend, losing two to Diablo Valley (9-1 and 9-6) on Friday and then falling to San Mateo (11-1) and American River (14-4) on Saturday.
Former Eureka Logger Sadie Hampton had a big day at the plate on Friday, finishing with a pair of hits in both games, as well as scoring three runs and stealing two bases,
Brook Faraimo also had two hits in each game, while hitting her first collegiate home run in game two and finishing with four RBIs on the day.
Bronwyn Arnold also had two hits against Diablo Valley, while Ashley Pierce hit a double.
The Corsairs are now 0-8.
