CR women to return on Wednesday; men still sidelined

Ray Hamill/HumboldtSports.com – CR’s Rachel Valdez in action earlier in the season.

By Ray Hamill — College of the Redwoods announced on Tuesday morning that Wednesday’s scheduled home game for the men’s basketball team has been postponed as the team continues to battle COVID protocols.

The CR women’s team, however, will return to action on Wednesday and will host Feather River at 1 p.m.

The men’s postponement is the fifth since late December for the team, and the second time their matchup with Feather River has been pushed back.

Earlier in the month, it was CR’s opponents who were short of players because of the protocols, and more recently it’s been the Corsairs who are short of players.

Both CR teams were also forced to postpone games at home to Lassen and Shasta last week.

The Shasta games will now be played at CR on Feb. 9 at 5 p.m. (women) and 7 p.m. (men), while the Lassen games will be played on Feb. 23 at a site and time to be determined.

The CR men’s game against Feather River will now be played at CR on Tuesday at 1 p.m.

The CR men are still scheduled to host Siskiyous on Saturday as part of a Golden Valley Conference doubleheader with the women.

The women tip off at 1 p.m. and the men at 3.
