Clifton shines for HSU in double-OT thriller

Both Humboldt State basketball teams fell to Cal Poly Pomona at Lumberjack Arena on Saturday night, including an exciting double-OT game for the women, who lost 89-80.

Freshman Jadence Clifton got her second straight start for the Lumberjacks, and had her best outing yet at the collegiate level.

The 2021 Del Norte graduate finished with 10 points and four rebounds and also dished out a team-best six assists while recording just one turnover.

Kaz Parks scored a team-high 21 points for HSU, including five 3-pointers, while teammate Madison Parry finished with 19 points and nine rebounds.

With the loss, which was their third straight, the Jacks drop to 4-7 overall and 3-4 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

The HSU men also fell at home to Cal Poly Pomona, losing 87-67.

Jaden Edwards scored a team-high 22 points and pulled down nine rebounds in the loss, as the Jacks fell to 8-6 on the season and 2-6 in conference.

Both HSU teams travel to play Cal State East Bay on Thursday.
