The Fortuna Huskies closed out the McKinleyville tournament with their second straight win on Saturday, defeating Yreka 55-35.

Senior Isobel Crosswhite was instrumental in the victory, finishing with a game-high 22 points and setting the tone for the team all game long at both ends of the court.

“Isobel was outstanding for us,” head coach Tom Chapman said. “She carried the team when we needed her the most. We knew we had a mismatch in the post and Isobel took advantage.”

Crosswhite was also perfect at the free-throw line, nailing all eight of her attempts.

Teal Mostovoy also had a good game and finished with nine points, while teammate Ashley Tulley continued her impressive early season with eight points.

Team defense also helped set the tone.

“Defensively the team did a good job containing a quick Yreka team and limiting quick transition baskets,” Chapman said.

The Huskies, who also defeated McKinleyville on Friday, improved to 6-6.
